Volunteer with horses at Out in Africa Encounters in the Waterberg area, South Africa
Connect with nature and travel back in time for an unbeatable working holiday which will allow you to ride up close to wildlife and work with our string of safari horses
You will volunteer at our horseback safari at Legend Golf & Safari Resor which is one of the world’s most renowned resorts. Therefore, Out in Africa Encounters has based their horse safaris on this breathtaking resort. Out in Africa Encounters conducts 8 day safari packages on Entabeni Private Nature reserve which is adjacent to the resort and home to the Big 5.
While Day rides are also offered on the resort, where guests can ride with non dangerous game, horse safaris are the main focus and are offered on fixed departure dates monthly.
Volunteers assist with the day to day running of the business, which will include day rides with guests, working horses and the caring for them.
The daily schedule will be varied and is adapted depending on the schedule.
We only take a maximum of two volunteers at a time.
Riding and horsemanship skills are necessary to take part as a volunteer.Cost for meals will be covered by the volunteer, whereas accommodation is provided at a cost.
In some circumstances, volunteers will be asked to take part in the logistical aspect of the safari circuit.
This will include riding horses up the escarpment, taking part in some of the rides with horses which are in training, and helping with the daily care of horses while on safari.
